Dress your doll and send her on a story
DIY Paper Doll is a free app for children that allows you to dress a virtual doll. Included is the story of her first day at college, the friend she meets, and the special places she visits.
There are plenty of virtual dress-up dolls for kids, including apps like Doll Dress Up Games for Girls and Dress Up Dolls Hair Salon. This app tries to stand out from the crowd with an emphasis on storytelling.
Three dolls to choose from
DIY Paper Doll opens by allowing you to choose from three dolls: Linda, Ashley, and Emily. These have different skin tones and hair colors but are otherwise the same design. Once you have chosen, the doll will speak to you, asking for help with getting dressed for college.
Put your doll in a story
Clothing items appear in an onscreen sticker book. The game goes all-out in graphics: when you choose an item, a 3D hand will appear and apply it to your doll. Once you have picked a complete outfit, you can hit the "next" button, and a storybook page will appear where your doll will meet a new friend.
A whole world for your doll
As is to be expected from a dress-up doll game, DIY Paper Doll is aimed at kids and has little to hold the attention of older players. It does, however, include an impressive variety that will please youngsters. As you unlock levels, you will be able to give your doll make-up, buy food for her, take her to the beach, and more.
Plenty of variety
This is a well-assembled paper doll game with simple doll designs but plenty of variety in terms of accessories and settings. The one downside is that the voices are clearly synthesized, lending a flat and robotic feel to the character interactions.
